August is ticking away and we’re getting ready for our September playreading – The Reaper’s Year – at Harleston Swan on Friday, 11th September at 7.30pm.

As is becoming the tradition, this month’s playreading ties in with Heritage Open Days, which runs from 11th-20th September this year.

The HODs theme this year is ‘working lives’. Ivan Cutting’s play, ‘The Reapers Year‘ tells the story of the agricultural worker, with special reference to the inter-war years and the transition from the use of horses to tractors

We’re delighted to welcome back Bury-based harmony folk singers, ‘Sound Tradition’, who accompanied us so beautifully in our Ploughboys’ play in January.

Hope to see you at the Swan on Fri 11th Sep. As usual, we don’t sell tickets but there’ll be a donations pot for Harleston’s Future and the various projects it runs around the town – the bunting and flags, the monthly cinema, the Swift nesting boxes etc

See  you at the Swan,

Eileen Ryan
