Fed up with spring cleaning, Mole decides to explore the riverbank and meets Ratty. The two set off together and soon come across the irrepressible Toad, owner of Toad Hall. Adventures ensue,, as Toad’s love for the latest thing encompasses cars and caravans, and even puts him in prison. But when Toad Hall is taken over by the wicked creatures from the Wilk Wood, the band of friends must rise to their greatest exploit yet!
Adapted in 1929 by A A Milne from Kenneth Grahame’s “The Wind in the Willow”, “Toad of Toad Hall” was an instant hit. It became a staple Christmas production in the West End, put on annually for much of the 1930s through to the 1920s. Many adaptations followed, but the charm of this first script has never really been surpassed.
